The fifth and the final season of the most awaited sci-fi series Star trek : discovery is currently airing on the streaming service Paramount +. The season was premiered on April 4, 2024. This final season of the series consists of 10 episodes, with new episodes releasing weekly.

Now let’s talk about the plot of the season and about the already aired episodes. But, if you haven’t watched these episodes yet, I will recommend you to not read the article further because there will be major spoilers.
Plot: Starship Discovery embarks on an adventure in the 32nd century to find a mysterious power that has lain hidden for centuries.
1st Episode: Red directive –
In the grand expanse of the cosmos, the crew of the USS Discovery embarks on a new voyage, chasing the echoes of a long-forgotten legacy. The season opener, “Red Directive,” unravels a tapestry of mystery that harkens back to an enigmatic episode from Star Trek’s storied past, “The Chase.”
Captain Michael Burnham and her valiant crew are thrust into a treasure hunt of galactic proportions. The prize? A technology so ancient and powerful, it’s said to have sown the seeds of sentient life across the stars.
Amidst the desolate beauty of the desert world Q’Mau, chaos ensues as the cunning villains Moll and L’ak leave a trail of destruction in their wake. Their goal: to unlock the secrets of an 800-year-old Romulan starship.
As fate would have it, Captain Saru faces a destiny of his own, poised to become a Federation Ambassador in a historic Kelpien-Vulcan union.
With the stakes higher than ever, the crew must navigate the perils of the unknown, racing against time and adversaries alike. The answers they seek are wild, hidden within the Romulan puzzle box of the cosmos.
As the episode concludes, the Discovery stands resilient, its shields a bulwark against the avalanche triggered by the renegade lovers. Yet, Moll and L’ak slip away with the Romulan’s journal, their secrets yet to be unveiled.

2nd Episode: Under the Twin Moons
As the twin moons of Lyrek cast their shadows over the desolate landscape, the USS Discovery’s crew faces a turning point. “Under the Twin Moons,” the second episode of the season, sees Captain Michael Burnham grappling with the weight of command as she selects her new Number One.
The episode opens with the crew removing the remnants of their previous mission from the sands of Q’Mau. Meanwhile, Captain Rayner faces a tribunal for his actions during the mission, with his future in Starfleet hanging in the balance.
Burnham and Saru, united for one last mission, journey to the abandoned planet of Lyrek in search of the Progenitors’ treasure. They navigate through ancient Promellian necropolises and evade formidable security systems, including killer drones emerging from a colossal alien statue.
In a thrilling sequence, Saru uses his Kelpien abilities to dispatch the drones, while Burnham and the crew work tirelessly to uncover the next clue in their hunt. The discovery of a Romulan poem leads them to the first piece of a map that will guide them to the Progenitors.
Back on the Discovery, the crew is reshuffled as they prepare for their next destination, Trill. The episode concludes with Burnham offering Rayner a second chance, impressed by his commitment and ingenuity during the mission on Lyrek.
As the episode fades, the crew of the Discovery sets course for new horizons, with the mysteries of the galaxy beckoning them forward.
